Patrouilleur auxiliaire P2 Cyrnos

Does anyone have any information on this ship while she was in French service? She later was SG13 in Kriegsmarine service.

I specifically am looking for armament information- number, size and arrangement.

Bonjour,

Le Cyrnos était un paquebot construit pour les lignes de Corse mis en service en mai 1929.
Utilisé comme patrouilleur en 1939/1940(P2).
En janvier 1943 est saisi par les allemands,rebaptisé SG13;le 21 aout 1944 est sabordé à Marseille; renfloué en 1946,remis en état.
Le 26 septembre 1947 coule à son poste d'amarrage à La Ciotat pendant une tempête; renfloué remis en service en aout 1948 en gérance sur les lignes de Corse de la Cie Générale Transatlantique. rendu à l'Etat en mai 1966, démoli en 1967 à La Seyne.

Hello Dave,

Les petits paquebots et moutonniers requis comme patrouilleurs auxiliaires étaient armés de cinq pièces de 100 mm (5 x I) et de 2 à 6 mitrailleuses AA (P 2, P 3, P 4, P 5, P 7 et P tandis que les P 1 et P 6 n'avaient que quatre pièces de 100 mm (4 x I) et deux mitrailleuses AA.

Does anyone have any knowledge on the arrangement of the 100mm guns? I am thinking one on the bow, two on each side in front of the bridge, one on an elevated platform center line aft and one on the stern.

For the ships having fives guns :

one on the bow, one of each side on the main deck forward and aft.

Here, the P 4 Ville d'Ajaccio




For the two ships having only four guns :

one of each side on the main deck forward and aft.

Thanks Alain! That is very helpful. I plan a 1/1200 model of the Cyrnos. Looks like the Ville d'Ajaccio will be a future possibility too!

Any idea what the big horizontal cylinders are aft on both ships?
