Hi Gentlemen.

Humble apologies because I do not speak French at all!

I have an old bronze tampion which I am trying to identify.
I have tried to upload a picture of it with no luck - so I will try and describe it!

It is two cannons crossed diagonally with a large letter "F" on top surrounded by 7 stars set inside a circle of rope.

I was wondering if any of you good people had any idea what ship this came from??

If anybody would like to see a picture of it I can email it to you if you leave me your email address??

Hello Terry,

On the present website, open on the left of the front page "Batiments desarmes", then "Foch(porte-avions)" and on the left down "Objets de tradition".
Is, on down right, your own tampion?

Good luck.

Hello Terry,

I think that it is the tampion of the french aircraft carrier FOCH (decommissionned).

The link is http://www.netmarine.net/bat/porteavi/foch/tradi.htm

The F is the first letter of FOCH, the two guns are because he was an artillery officier and the seven stars was his rank of "Marechal de France".

Best wishes.

Basic.

the crossed cannons are not cannons, but "bâtons de maréchal" (someone knowshow to translate ? marshal's baton ?
